Saturday, May 15th: Tattoo artist Henk Schiffmacher will launch his magnum opus The Encyclopedia for the Art and History of Tattooing at ABC Amsterdam.  See the full post with all the details right here.

Wednesday, May 26th: In Den Haag at 20.00 hrs at Weimarstraat 36 this evening is Julia Blackburn, Orange prize short-lister, and 2009 PEN/Ackerley Award (for “literary autobiography of excellence”) winner for The Three of Us.  She’ll be there at the invitation of Borderkitchen; for more information see their website.

Edited to add: Saturday, May 29th: Author Cherry Denham will be presenting her book Diplomatic Incidents at Pulchri Studio in Den Haag, from 16.00 – 18.00 hrs.  This event is organized by ABC Den Haag; see the full post for all the information.

Edited to add: Tuesday, June 1st: Writer and comedian Sara Barron (People Are Unappealing) is the keynote speaker at Kom je ook?: Sterke verhalen, a meeting on innovation and audience participation in art, culture and heritage at the Bijlmer Parktheater in Amsterdam, organized by Mediamatic and Deneuve. Thursday, June 3rd: The Help author Kathryn Stockett will visit the University of Amsterdam, starting at 20.00 hrs.  The Help is her debut novel (and I can’t believe the Dutch title they came up with: Keukenmeidroman O.o). She was originally scheduled to come on April 16th, but I think the ash cloud got in the way.  For more information see the JAI website.

Sunday, June 6th: Author David Grossman finds himself at Lange Voorhout 15, Den Haag, at 16.00 hrs, to present his latest book Until the End of the Land (Isha Borahat Mibesora)(although there is an English title available, it doesn’t look as if it has been translated yet).  Mr. Blackburn is here at the invitation of Borderkitchen – please note that neither the venue nor the time are regular for Borderkitchen events!

Saturday, June 26th: From 1 – 6 pm on the Spui square in Amsterdam, the American Book Center is proud to present the ABC Urban Arts Festival!  This is the third year this festival will be held, and it promises to be bigger and better; a veritable mash-up of crafts and design and art and illustration!  This is one day you definitely want to put in your agenda.  See the full post, with lots of information about who exactly is confirmed to come, right here!
