Nobel Prize for Literature to Tomas Transtromer

The 2011 Nobel Prize for Literature has gone to Swedish writer and poet Tomas Tranströmer.

As the committee so succinctly puts it, “because, through his condensed, translucent images, he gives us fresh access to reality”.  🙂

There’s not an awful lot of his work currently available in English, although a few of his poetry collections are available: The Sorrow Gondola/Sorgegondolen, Deleted World, The Half-Finished Heaven, and The Great Enigma.  Undoubtedly a fresh crop of his work in English will be published soon, though – the same thing was true when Hertha Müller won a few years back.
