Bookbits for May 22nd, 2014

  • Awards! The 2013 Nebula Awards were handed out May 18th (2014).  Congratulations to Ann Leckie, who won the Best Novel category for Ancillary Justice!  The entire list of winners can be found here, and our annual round-up of SF/Fantasy awards is right here.  The 2014 Bollinger Wodehouse Prize (for comic fiction)(get a proper website, lads!) was awarded to Edward St. Aubyn for his book Lost for Words.  It’s a satire about literary awards, so I think even Abed would consider this meta enough, no?  The 2014 Ondaatje Prize (for “evoking the spirit of a place”) went to Alan Johnson for his memoir This Boy.
  • And finally, an excellent birthday tip for book lovers (via @digitalyn).  Although I think I would ask for a store-bought version rather than the giver’s original copy…
