Store Bits: Bags-to-pillow crafts projects, Corinne Duyvis, Colette Caddle and Jamie’s Comfort Food

First off, ABC customer Irene Kruijssen’s absolutely fabulous linen-ABC-bag-to-pillow crafts project!  She was kind enough to send us some pictures of her ABC loot (Gone, Fool’s Assassin, Shadow and Bone, Alcatraz Omnibus, The Rosie Project, and One Line a Day), the ABC pillow (front and back) and other literary pillows. (And also a picture of her cat.  And you have to post pictures of cats when they are sent to you.  Especially one as cute as this one.)

Click on each picture below to see the big-and-beautiful version.  If you want to know how she did it, mail social@abc.nl and we will ask her to share her sewing secrets with you.  And many thanks to Irene for sharing her craftiness with us!  🙂

At the end of August, local author Corinne Duyvis held a book presentation, signing and Q&A for her debut Otherbound.  Tiemen reports that we had a crowd of about 45 people at the book presentation and the Q&A at the ABC Treehouse, and that the book signing session in the Amsterdam store was busy.  He also says there was a good vibe during the event and that the Q&A between Corinne and moderator Julie Phillips was really nice.  Corinne’s uncle made a recording of the whole event; we will of course post a link to that once it’s ready!  Click on the picture below to find Corinne in the midst of her adoring fans.

Best-selling Irish author Colette Caddle (First We Take Manhattan) held a writing workshop organised by the Irish Club at the ABC Treehut in The Hague this past weekend.  Lots of laughter was heard through the door of the Treehut, so it sounded like the workshop was a great success!  She was kind enough to allow an interview with yours truly, too, so look for that some time in the near future.  (Speaking of interviews: we’ll have one up with Django Wexler at the end of this week!)  In the meantime, here she is in front of the ABC The Hague window display, and she really is as lovely as she looks:

And finally, the lovely folks at Penguin have given us both a book trailer and an opportunity to look inside Jamie Oliver’s new book Jamie’s Comfort Food.  As ever, his dishes look absolutely scrumptious.  Do *not* click on either the image on the right or the video below if you are anywhere near hungry…  🙂
