Read the book before you see: Gone Baby Gone + Hallam Foe + Sleuth

Another busy movie/book week! I’ll make it quick.

Gone Baby GoneGone Baby Gone, directed by Ben Affleck and starring his younger brother Casey, is based on Dennis Lehane’s book by the same name. It’s about two Boston detectives that get swallowed up, personally and professionally, by a kidnapping case.

Hallam FoeHallam Foe, starring Jamie Bell and Sophia Myles, is based on the book by Peter Jinks. Hallam is a voyeur who inhabits the rooftops of Edinburgh, watching the lives of various people he knows.

Sleuth, starring Michael Caine and Jude Law, was originally a play by Anthony Shaffer. Jude Law plays Milo, who was played by Michael Caine 26 years ago. The movie centers on the interplay between an aging writer and a young actor, who steals the heart of the writer’s wife.
