Author Events in April

April 2ndChloe Aridjis, whose debut Book of Clouds came out just last month, will be in Den Haag at the invitation of BorderKitchen.  She’ll be at the BorderKitchen in Antwerp on April 4th.  Visit their website for details.

April 3rd: New York-based Artist Mike Perry will be at our very own ABC Treehouse in Amsterdam from 19.00 – 21.00 hrs.  Be sure to come by for an amazing live screen printing crash course and demonstration, and to nab a signed poster!  See our previous post for all the information, or the ABC Treehouse website, of course.

April 4th: If you’re a fan of board games, come to the ABC Amsterdam store from 12.00 – 18.00 hrs on Saturday to meet Eerin Vink and Valentijn Eekels, creators of the gorgeous new game Day & Night.  You can learn to play the game from the makers themselves, and gawk at some of the original paintings used to illustrate it.  See our previous post for all the details.

April 4th: While you’re at the ABC Amsterdam store, be sure to stop by at the book signing of Car Girls by photographer Jacqueline Hassink from 16.00 – 18.00 hrs.  There are only 1,500 copies of this beautiful book in the world, so get one now!  See our previous post for all the details.

April 4th: Busy day, April 4th!  To commemorate the 400-year-relationship between Amsterdam and New York there is a town hall meeting featuring talks by Russell Shorto and Geert Mak. Sadly, this event is already sold out, but that only testifies to the excellence of the John Adams Institute offerings, so head on over to their site to see what their upcoming events are.  Also, a new lecture series concerning this topic will start at the ABC Treehouse in Amsterdam on April 8th.

April 8th: Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist J. R. Moehringer will visit Den Haag at the invitation of BorderKitchen to discuss, amongst other things, his memoir The Tender Bar.  He’ll be at the Antwerp BorderKitchen on April 9th.  See their site for details.

April 15th: Author and inspirator Michael Roads will give a talk on Changes at the ABC Treehouse in Amsterdam, starting at 19.30 hrs.  Mr. Roads is the author of various books and is renowned for his seminars and retreats.

April 16th:  International best-selling author Lee Child will be at the ABC Amsterdam store to sign the latest in his hugely popular Jack Reacher series, Gone Tomorrow, from 18.00 – 19.00 hrs.  I’m sure this is going to be a huge deal, so plan a free evening now!  More details to follow in a future post.  (Picture of Mr. Child courtesy of Sigrid Estrada.)

April 21st:  And finally (thank goodness, since my fingers are cramping up here), German author Martin Walser (Rabbit Race) will visit Den Haag at the invitation of BorderKitchen (aren’t they doing great this month?).  Last time, I promise, visit their site for more details.
