Staff Choice: Remember Me? by Sophie Kinsella

kinsella.jpgHello. My name is Pleun and I am a Kinsella addict.

I know that some people are going to look at me a little differently after this revelation. (Okay, leave out the ‘little’.) Some might snigger as I walk by or talk about my addiction behind my back, but let me tell you something: that’s not going to stop me devouring every Sophie Kinsella book that comes onto the market.

Of course Kinsella is best known for her extremely popular Shopaholic series. Her first Shopaholic book is even going to be filmed soon. Although the Shopaholic series is great fun, her best books are actually her other novels, like Can You Keep a Secret? and The Undomestic Goddess. And let me tell you her new book Remember Me? is another jewel.

In it, Lexi wakes up in a hospital bed with 3 years missing from her memory. She is no longer the Lexi with the crooked teeth, or A Little Too Heavy Lexi, Dead End Job Lexi, or Lousy Love Life Lexi. No, now she is Lexi with the gorgeous smile, the fabulous body, the hot shot career and the perfect marriage (to a Millionaire no less!)

Completely in shock, Lexi tries to adapt to this new life with total strangers. At first it feels like she hit the jackpot: closets full of designer clothes, a rich handsome husband and a house so big she could fit her old apartment in it three times. But after a while she finds out her ‘new life’ is not all it’s cracked up to be. Her old friends are no longer her friends, she’s called The Cobra at work and the marriage? Not so perfect. In a whirlwind of entertaining situations she tries to piece the puzzle back together and find out what happened to her in the last three years to cause her life to change so extremely. Remember Me? is a gem of a book – a great way to have a laugh and, just for a little while, escape your own every day life.
