What We’re Reading: Amsterdam

Renate: American Psycho. For a bit of light Summer reading

Nicki: I should be reading Netherland for my book club but haven’t gotten round to it yet. I have just finished Bad Things by Michael Marshall Smith though. It’s not as good as his other books, but still beautifully written.

Hans: Ignore Everybody.

Ward: I’m not reading anything at the minute. But I’m pretty sure The Story of Edgar Sawtelle is going to be the next thing I read.

Jitse: I’m reading three: A Short History of Nearly Everything. Pherone, a graphic novel by Viktor Kalachev and Atomisedby Michel Houellebecq.

Paul: Body Double by Tess Gerritsen. But also No Country for Old Menby Cormac McCarthy, and Out of Captivity by Marc Gonsalves which is gruesome, actually.

Sigrid: The Last Unicornby Peter S. Beagle. It’s a classic 70’s book, recommended by Patrick Rothfuss. Very nice. Exciting!

Steven: I’m about half way through about 6 books. The one that I’m nearest to finishing is The Thief of Always by Xenia Alexiou and Kim Baldwin.

Pleun: I’m reading The Lady Elizabeth by Alison Weir. And The Duchess by Amanda Foreman. Nice in-between books, the kind I like most because they give you real facts with a ‘fiction sauce.’

Hayley: I’m plowing through the badly translated English version of the Dutch Traffic Manual.   I just finished This is Paradise a biography by a young man who defected from North Korea. I’m trying not to start any new books because I’m waiting for my copy of The Aquariums of Pyongyang to arrive.

Giorgio: I am reading Time and Newsweek magazines. Those are my favourites: I like informative magazines.
