Amsterdam Sniper, Amsterdam Strangler & Amsterdam Stalker - three serial killers in one city
A Rinus Rompa Suspense Series
Amsterdam Sniper, Amsterdam Strangler & Amsterdam Stalker
Within eight months, inspector Rinus Rompa of the Amsterdam criminal investigation department (ACID) and his team must track down and prevent a sniper, a strangler and a stalker from adding to the body count all over Amsterdam. The mission is not made easier by Rompa’s struggle to stay sober and to deal with pressure from his superiors, the media, and his increasingly chaotic private life.
AMSTERDAM SNIPER: The December display of Christmas lights and decorations in streets, squares, houses, and shops all over Amsterdam is magical. The holiday season is a splendid time to be in the Dutch capital, but every paradise has a snake. In the early hours of the 3rd Sunday of Advent, the first victim dies with a bullet to the head. As the police are trying to get their own heads around the hideous crime, there is another killing with the same modus operandi. A vindictive sniper on a killing spree is the last thing Inspector Rinus Rompa from the Amsterdam Criminal Investigation Department (ACID) needs in his struggle to end the year sober and to cope with the expectations from colleagues, a partner with a high sex drive, a sulking ex-wife, and his disappointed teenage kids. With added pressure from the Commissioner, the media, and the mayor's office to track down a sniper who won’t stop killing, Rompa must dig deep to survive.
AMSTERDAM STRANGLER: The tulips are in bloom, and spring is caressing the Netherlands. In Amsterdam, streets, parks, and café terraces are packed with locals and tourists getting the most out of some exceptionally mild March weather. Alas, a serial killer, has chosen Holy Week and the Easter weekend to terrorize the Dutch capital, upsetting the usual atmosphere of conviviality. Inspector Rinus Rompa, having only recently returned to the Amsterdam Criminal Investigation Department from a lengthy mental and physical rehabilitation, has, by the skin of his teeth, managed to stay sober for 110 days. His white-knuckled sobriety and fragile state of mind come under severe threat as he embarks on putting a stop to a ruthless and ferocious strangler while having to deal with mistrust and tension at HQ, an obstinate reporter, and an increasing chaotic private life.
AMSTERDAM STALKER: A heatwave has descended upon the Netherlands. In Amsterdam, windows and doors are open around-the-clock to improve ventilation. Unwittingly, this also benefits a violent predator who is sexually assaulting women. The victims describe being attacked in their homes by a man wearing a Jason hockey mask and threatening them with a hunting knife. On a hot July evening—two weeks into the stalker’s reign—Inspector Rinus Rompa is summoned to a brutal double homicide. The stalker leaves a terrifying clue at the crime scene, indicating that he is now targeting couples. While the Amsterdam Criminal Investigation Department struggle for a breakthrough to stop the stalker from adding to the body count, Rompa has the uneasy feeling that he and his girlfriend are also being targeted. Can he refute the evidence that if the stalker is watching, it is already too late?
