Alternate history is usually not my cup of tea. I want brave new worlds to explore and visit. Not slightly different rehashes of history.
However, Bitter Seeds by Ian Tregilis is certainly not your average WWII alternative history. What if ze Germans had their own Avengers-esque kind of team of superhumans and the British counter that with Lovecraftian demons? Indeed, what if?
In my humble opinion the Milkweed trilogy, of which Bitter Seeds is the first part, is a rip-roaring saga that delivers on all fronts.
