Craving

A fascinating read!
The viewpoint switches from a sick mother, to her somewhat estranged daughter Coco, who are both very complex characters, and have a very peculiar way of dealing with each other. After the mother has admitted she is going to die, her daughter breaks up with her boyfriend and decides to move in with her mother, who is not too enthusiastic about this decision. Ex-husband Wilbert, Miriam and the hairdresser all become frequent visitors.
Knowing Esther Gerritsen's style of writing (I thoroughly enjoy her VPRO columns!), I found it very easy to submerge myself into a full novel of her writing.
Her characters are never 'average', so you can expect just about any dialogue, or any behavior, from anyone, male or female.
