A frustrated commercial artist goes into a Los Angeles bar to relax and meets a familiar face. Though not a friend, he recognises the man from B movies. As they strike up a conversation, the artist's mind flashes back to his life in San Francisco before he relocated to L.A. The ensuing vignette of his former life and lover are compassionately portrayed in his memory and allow us a candid peek at his unique way of seeing the world as an artist. The story is unapologetic and captures the moment in all its truth. The effects of the Vietnam War on American citizens adds more perspective to the era, along with the onset of AIDS. As the artist's brief reverie ends, his conversation with the actor at the bar resumes and they continue to have much in common. This accidental encounter provides a solution for the artist's problem and an extraordinary insight to the reader.
This is the second in the collection of lgbtq+ novellas from the book Cocktales by Chantz Perkins.
